Rims for Overlanding
Overlanding is about getting through on your own terms, which can mean far from tarmac, service and comfort. It is a way of travelling that places high demands on the whole vehicle, and the rims are no exception. You need rims that handle rough terrain, heavy loads and long distances without giving way. Enter your registration number and we will show you straight away which rims fit your vehicle.
What makes a good overlanding rim?
An overlanding rim has to handle more than an ordinary rim. Rough terrain with sharp rocks, deep ruts and uneven surfaces tests a rim's construction in ways ordinary driving never does. High load capacity is decisive: a fully packed overland vehicle with a tent, water, food and spare parts weighs considerably more than a normally loaded one. And if something goes wrong far from the nearest workshop, you want rims that stand up to hard treatment.
Alloy wheels for overlanding
Alloy wheels are the most popular choice among overlanders. The lighter construction reduces unsprung weight and improves progress off the tarmac; a lighter rim shows in the steering and under braking on uneven ground. The right design and finish also give the vehicle the right character for the adventure. We have alloy wheels in a wide range of designs and finishes, from aggressive off-road models in matt black and bronze to cleaner options in anthracite and gun metal. Read more about alloy wheels →
Steel wheels for overlanding
Steel wheels have clear advantages for the serious overlander. They take hard impacts and strain without cracking, and if a steel wheel is damaged in the terrain it can often be straightened with simple tools far from the nearest workshop – something that is impossible with an alloy wheel. Many experienced overlanders choose steel wheels precisely for that repairability on longer expeditions in remote areas. Read more about steel wheels →
Dirt A.T Wheels – built for the adventure
Our own brand Dirt A.T Wheels is built specifically for pickups and off-road vehicles, with a focus on rugged construction, high quality and a look that matches the adventure. Available in sizes from 17 to 22 inches in colours such as Flat Black, Gloss Black, Flat Grey and Bronze. Combine them with our own Blackbear AT tyres for a complete overlanding package of high quality at a competitive price.
A spare rim – a must for overlanding
On an overland trip far from civilisation a spare rim is not an option, it is a necessity. Make sure the spare rim matches the others in bolt pattern and dimension, and that the spare tyre has the same load index as the rest. A rim already mounted with a spare tyre, ready to bolt straight on, saves valuable time when you need it most.
Which vehicles are used for overlanding?
Overlanding is most often done with a pickup, SUV or 4x4 with enough ground clearance and four-wheel drive. Popular overland vehicles in Sweden are the Ford Ranger, Toyota Land Cruiser, Volkswagen Amarok, Nissan Navara, Dodge Ram and Mercedes G-Class. Enter your registration number on our site and we will show you the right rims for your particular vehicle straight away.
